Hey everyone, well I have a laptop currently that I bought for gaming when I was away from my desktop.

The current specs are i5-3210m, gt650m and 4gb ram. However Battlefield 4 and some games are laggy on low. I know the gpu isn't the best but I had £500 I was happy with the spec. I was wondering if adding 4gb ram would help with the problem.

The price for compatible ram is £30 but would it make much difference whether I add the ram or not.

(running windows 7 64bit)

no expert but i would consider dropping the AA if you can, ram is unlikely to make a big difference, in a laptop overclocking is probably not the way to go and an ssd would speed up general use of the laptop and loading time but i doubt it will significantly improve the game play, might be time for cpu/gpu upgrade im afraid. But it is probably just down to as Dblkk said, fb4 is a demanding game.

Thanks Mike, I really wasn't implying that ram and ssd upgrade would make the game playable. Which im sure you figured. But the ram and hhd might be holding back some of the performance, ram is only 4gb and on a laptop depending what else is running might only be giving the game half its capacity. As for hhd, if its a older 5400 drive and especially with bf4 needing so much info off the drive while loading and playing, a solid state would probably up the speed of gaming slightly, loading I know first hand ssd vs 3.5" hhd is like twice as fast. But yes, neither will improve fps which is im guessing causing the glitch por performance op is experiencing. The i5 for gaming, even mobile version, should be enough for bf4. But the graphics is def. the bottleneck/limiting factor.

But I would agree, drop the resolution to 720, turn off aa and other eye candy's, and you wont be hitting 60fps or higher, but it 'should' be playable.

I have an amd 8870 card which should be either the same as the 650 or even a step down (I just days ago bought this laptop to) and I play 720 no goodies just fine. Don't run fraps or know what fps im actually getting because I don't really care, it plays fine. If I wanted all the goodies and great picture, that's what desktops are for, laptops are for work and gaming on the go, you don't need no 1080p aaa high/ultra graphics. especially on a im guessing 15" display
