Hey all,

I am writing to seek help with some sound issues I am having with my headphones (only headphones, speakers work fine) on my computer. I hope this is the correct place to post this question, I wasn't really sure.

Anyways, I have the Razer Kraken Pro (Green) headphones and they are plugged into a Creative Sound Blaster Z sound card (as are my speakers). The Kraken has a mic and headphone jack (I don't know the technical name, but it is not USB, it has two different jacks at the end of the cord). I use the Creative Sound Blaster software to switch between headphones and speakers (there is a little switch in the software) as well as to control all sound settings for my computer. If it matters, I haveteh Razer surround software installed as well, but I don't use it.

Here is my problem: when I use my headphones all seems well when I first switch to them, but this only last max thirty minutes, usually no longer than ten. What seems to be happening, and this is be trying to describe it as best I can, is that the headphones are trying to a surround sound thing? For example, Ill be using the Krakens (this happens on all programs) and all goes well until suddenly the left or right sound goes away and then it sounds like it is jumping back and forth between the ears. The sound gets louder and softer, the bass increases and decreases, and sometimes it stabalizes, sometimes one ear goes so low I can't hear it while the other one is fine, and sometimes it just keeps switching.

The only way to solve this, after it starts, is a complete computer restart. I have tried unplugging my cords hoping that would do something. uninstalling and reinstalling all sound software. None of this seems to work.

I want to use the creative Software because of its ease of use and te fact I can easily switch between output sources, unless someone has a better solution? I have contacted Razer, but they can't seem to help. I have looked through Google pages and can't find anything similar to my issue. The headphones do seem to work fine when plugged into a phone/ipod (the cord splits so that it can be used like a Beats headphones) or when plugged into the headphone and mic jacks on my case. This just means I have to do a lot more work to switch between speakers and headphones.

Just some side notes on my system:

Windows 7
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
16GB RAM
NVidia GTX 660

Any help and suggestions would be great since I am really out of my league on this one.

Thanks!

Solution
if you already tried them on another pc and they work fine then i agree.

try ditching the soundcard for a test and see if they work fine.

it could be either the soundcard (or more likely the soundcard drivers/software) acting up.

report back your findings.

When used on another device they work fine. However, I tried them without the razer software installed while plugged into the soundcard and the issue persists. I'm considering just ditching the sound card and using the built in sound on the motherboard.
