my laptop is a dell xps 15z and a couple of days ago I was formatting it with the disk dell gives you with the system. So... I inserted the disk, and formatted, and in the installation, I kinda shut it down... so, I opened it up again and wanted to install windows 7 again, and when I go into the installing part, it says "windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017" but I know that it's not from the cd, because it's still brand new with no scratches. Anyways, so I disassembled it, and for some reason, I took the antennas for the LAN card, and when I start the laptop, it tells me to check the cable connection in the LAN :(, but they're connected. (wait it gets worse...) so, I go ahead, and take out the RAMs and turn the laptop on, and what I heard was 2 beeps. So I put the RAMs back in and turn the laptop on, and the same beeps, they are 2 short beeps, and everything inside it connected :( oh gosh what do I do???

Solution
I think a system reset will be a good start here. With the laptop unplugged from the power adapter and the battery removed, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, replace battery, plug in power adapter, attempt to restart again.
Let us know where you get then
Just to confirm on the wifi card, the color of the cable corresponds to the color of the arrow on the card and the antenna are fully snapped in

Oh, in case you don't have it already your Service and Maintenance Manual can be found here ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_xps_laptop/xps-15z_service%20manual_en-us.pdf (pdf link)

Hi Sam,

Don't panic. I would advise not to take apart a laptop for future reference as they can be quite temperamental. I would advise you go over the laptop again making sure that the Ram dimms are correctly pushed in. Its alright to give a little bit of force when putting in ram. As for the drive can you put in the CD and get to the foramt page again? I would re format the drive if you can. If you can't you will need to get access to another laptop or pc. Plug in the hard drive and format the drive again. I dont have much experience with this kind of issue so i may be overlooking something of an easier nature to fix this. However if this doesnt work im stumped.

Sorry i couldnt be more help!

Well, I remember something, but I was nervous and I forgot to mention it, when I opened the laptop up, I noticed that it was still on ;( I'm so stupid .-., the I noticed it was on when I saw the heatsink fan on, so I may have burned the wifi-card, because the cables are inn place... Also, the laptop doesn't beep when it starts up, so there are no more memory issues, but the wifi thing is still there, I will try to take off the battery until tomorrow morning and try to format again and then look at the wifi card again. Thank you guys. and I will try that method, thank you, I will rate you best answer if this works... :D
