I have an acer aspire 4730z and I was looking to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate. In the process I ran into errors. One of the errors that I ran into was that I did not have enough space on my harddrive, which has 250GB. But my main issue is when I looked into diskmgmt.msc I saw that the volumes for each partition went missing. But when I go into the windows explorer, the name of the drive and the drive letter are there. I have been researching this problem, but I have not been able to come up with an answer that will help me. Any ideas on what I could try out. I have tried using the diskpart in cmd to try and potential fix the problem, but no luck with that. I have also installed and ran programs like EASEUS Partition Master to try and resolve the problem, still no luck. When I run EASEUS Partition Master, the partitions on the disk show up correctly, but in diskmgmt.msc, does not show correctly.

Hi

There is a big difference between Disk Managent not working due to registry corruption or corrupt files and a corrupt file system

If Windows Explorer can see the drive letters and access them and running Easeus software does not complain about corruption then running Easeus or similar software will not cure Windows corruption

What was the previous operating system Win XP, Vista, 7 Home ?
Is the 7 Ultimate DVD OEM, full retail or retail upgrade ?
Is the PC still able to boot up and to what version of Windows ?

(Upgrades want SETUP.exe to be run by an existing earler windows but you can cheat by installing twice, and not entering key or activating first time. Afterward run disk cleanup to get rid of Windows.old)

Often a 250GB...

Often a 250GB drive will be approx 120GB C: and 120GB D:

probably what filled up C: was creating c:\windows.old which can be used to roll back to previous version
(assuming enough free space)

If you have a full backup of your important files you could start a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate on C: and format C: to make enough free space to complete the installation.

Is there any way I can fix the corruption if there is one? The original OS is Windows Visa Home Premium (32-bit). That is also the current OS that I am running right now. For 7 Ultimate, I have an iso image on both a flash drive, and also on my current computer that I was trying to upgrade to 7 on. I currently have 100GB free on the C: I am just trying to to an upgrade, rather than a clean install.
