Receiver no longer wakes subwoofer up from sleep

My receiver does not seem to want to wake up my subwoofer anymore. It's an Onkyo 260. There is no option for always on. It only has the stand-by to on when it receives a signal. And it no longer turns on anymore.

However, when I go to the back of the receiver, pull out the subwoofer cable, touch the end of it, the subwoofer turns on and acts perfectly until there is no bass for a while. The subwoofer then goes back into sleep mode and will not turn on again.

I've tried using a spare RCA cable I had laying around and it continued to do the same thing. I assume my receiver is broken. Is there anyway around this issue or do I need a new one to get the subwoofer working again?

Check the speaker setup menu and make sure that the subwoofer is on. You can go through the channel level setup to make sure that the sub is receiving a signal. Sometimes receivers just lose a setting.

Not really sure what happened to the receiver, but I reset the Audessey equalizer settings and re calibrated it and it seems to work fine now.

Thanks.
