Hello - I just bought a new Sony HT-CT260H sound bar and am trying to hook it up to my older LCD TV (Philips model #52PFL5603D/F7). The TV has 4 hdmi connections but none are ARC. It also has no optical connection.

So I have an hdmi running from my blu-ray player (hdmi out) to the Sound bar (hdmi in). Then a second hdmi cable running from the sound bar (hdmi out ARC) to the hdmi 1 on the back of my tv.

I can play a DVD and the sound works great! But there is NO picture! I can change hdmi channels on the TV and I still get sound, but the other channels show no signal for picture (hdmi 1 doesn't say no signal). I tested both hdmi cables and they both work individually from the blu-ray to the tv, so the cable themselves work.

Any ideas of how I can get picture with no ARC or optical input?

PS: I don't have cable so the only component to hook up is the DVD player.

Connect the DVD to the TV using the same cable that you were using from the soundbar. If you get picture and sound on the TV then the problem is the soundbar since you already checked the cables.
ARC and optical input have nothing to do with the picture at all. ARC is to get sound from the TV tuner or internet to the soundbar and the optical input is for TVs that have optical audio output.
If you don't get a picture or sound then the DVD player may be at fault. Try each input on the TV and a different brand of HDMI cable. Sometimes there are weird issues with HDMI combinations of cable and input used.

Best Buy told me to try hdmi from DVD to TV then analog from Soundbar to TV. Didn't work, but analog from DVD to Soundbar does work. I am just not sure if the sound is the best it could be through analog :(
