Hi

Was the laptop switched on when dropped ?

You need to test if the hard disk is corrupt or physically damaged
No point in a recovery re install or full install to a damaged hard disk

Most hard disk manufacturers produce a dos bootable disk image (ISO) that gets burnt to a bootable CD
(best program for writing ISO file to CD or DVD is ImgBurn)
Seagate version can test other brands of hard disk
(but should only be used to repair Seagate/Maxtor hard disks)

They also produce Windows versions
Western Digital Windows Data Life Guard can also test other brands

If the hard disk passes a full test by either of the above you can look at rescuing the data or re installing Windows
If a small number of bad sectors are found the software may be able to do a temporary repair
But you should buy a new hard disk asap
