My laptop: Asus X53E-SX353V

Specs:
CPU: i7 2630QM
RAM: 1x4GB
HDD: WD Blue WD5000BPVT 8MB 500GB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Display: 1366x768

Why has it become slow all of a sudden? It takes 2 minutes from me pressing the power button to it loading windows and the desktop. It is also slow and inresponsive when using it.

I installed Windows 7 about a month ago.
Is my HDD going bad? I installed ActiveSMART and it says that my HDD is fine, not convinced though.

Any ideas?

You could have alot of junk on the computer. Is the hard drive full? Do you have a lot of bloatware? Do you have alot of things installed? Have you dusted it lately? Theres alot of things that can slow down a computer. Try doing some of those things, run a virus scan, and run disk cleanup and defrag.

500 gb really don't easily get filled up and if it has to filled then its only C drive (or any other drive where os is installed)
so if your drive is filled then try to clean it and if not its your hard drive
