I am in the market for a new laptop, long overdue. Looking for something conveniently portable sub $1600 but more likely $1000 - $1400. i7, preferably quad core haswell, and proper dedicated graphics and memory. I am not a hardcore gamer but would appreciate the ability to run modern games, and a powerful gpu would help with flash professional and photoshop, etc. Really like the gigabyte p34g but iffy on the quality assurance and costumer service so a "name brand" might be more appropriate.

If you're looking at Gigabyte laptops, this one is good AND it's on sale!

UPDATE:
Whoops, just realised that one was exactly not what you asked for. Look at this instead:

Much better everything.

Looks good, I have recently been looking at the ATIV book 8 however I am unsure about the 5400 rpm hard drive. Any thoughts?

that 1500$ gigabyte is overpriced, you can get a similiar laptop with acer/asus for 1000$

The 5400rpm drives are very slow, I only have one SSD device and it is so much faster. However, you can always upgrade to an SSD later. If you pick up a Samsung 840 Evo SSD, it'll be pretty much the best speed you can get.
