I have two different mic's that I have plugged into my computer using the stereo/mic jack and both of them make some weird noises. When they are muted I can hear a faint electronic ringing sound as well as when I hold down a key on my keyboard I can hear a series of rapid noises through my headphones as well. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It only appears to be when my microphone is muted. Only other people can hear it too unless I activate Listen to this device.

Listen to this device is only used if you are trying to plug a media or mp3 player into your computer.

This is probably a problem with your settings. Do you have an audio setting that says something like "Everything You Hear"? It sounds like your mic is set to playback the system sounds.

Stereo what? get a jack channel splitter like audiobook L/R adapter and plug it betwen the mic and sound card or ground loop isolator, it may have problems with bridged input. Try turning off/on the mic. boost to see if it is induced interference. Is your keyboard wireless like bluetooth? If neither, I suspect it is the accessibility clicking the key feedback through the speaker so turn up system sounds slider in the mixer to see if it gets louder in that case it would come through the builtin speakers too. {does your PC have a built in mic. too that is not being muted?}
