I have a Sony Vaio PCG-61611M (VPCEE3E0E) running Windows 7.

When i boot the laptop, the power light turns green, the fan spins and i'm able to open the CD tray.

The problem is that the screen is completely blank (not even a POST boot screen) and i have no activity at all from the hard disk.

To me this suggested a motherboard issue, so i purchased a used (working)replacement from ebay. I have since fitted the new motherboard only to be presented with exactly the same issue.

Was i right to swap out the motherboard? Have i been unlucky and purchased a faulty motherboard on ebay.

Scratching my head with this a little now.

I've also replaced the thermal paste on CPU and VPU.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Still scratching my head with this one.

I have swapped the motherboard out for another replacement and i have also swapped out the processor.

The laptop powers on and the power button remains green. The fan spins and the DVD drive can be opened.

I get no post boot screen even on an external display, i get no activity from the hard disk and i get no error beep codes.

Please help before this laptop gets thrown out a window.

No joy with this one.

I ended up fitting another board which worked for a week before failing with the same issue.

Laptop has been scrapped now.

Good luck with fixing, I'd be interested to know if you manage to fix it.

get a pencil and look for a small fuse to the left of the internal vga lead H5 I think it's called. Just draw on the top of the fuse a few times from end to end , worked for me so give it a try :)

Hey, the issue is on the memory module on the motherboard. Put initial motherboard into laptop. Without the battery on and with only one memory stick try to see if it boots (change memory to both slots also). Switch the other memory in and repeat. It will eventually boot into windows. Same problem to two Sony same model and fixed both with this technique. Cheers.
