charger problem of dell inspiron 5110 laptop

i have a dell inspiron 5110 laptop with i5 processor. my problem is whenver i plug in the charger point into my laptop, the display of the laptop stop instantly and the dispaly will not work further.for the usage of laptop, ihave to switch off the power button and have to press the power button again after a few minutes. can i know the reason???

yes, if i start the lap with the charger plug in,then the display works properly. if i plug in the charger when the system is already in on position, then the display off instantly.
 
When the electricity is connected, the slightly feinter display that the battery power provides should step up to full brightness but yours can't seem to handle that transition. There may be somethng in the display settings you could change, otherwise you will need to restart before connecting the charger.

Ok. This is what I'd like you to try and tell us if it works.
Have the system on on the battery power.
Then after sometime, plug the power cord in.
As you say the display blanks out, this is what we expect should happen.
Since you can't see anything on the screen now, what I'd like you to do is
Press the Function Key and the External display activation key once, see if the display pops back on, if not, press the same combination again.
What happens?
Does it come on?
