I found nothing that works so far so i figured i would ask here. I am trying to connect my mother's laptop (gateway windows 8 with AMD graphics) to this older tv she has (Hitachi 53SBX59B). I am using a VGA to RCA cord to connect. The image shows up kinda but it is repeated and in black and white. Most resolutions have nothing but static show up. The resolution that works the best (640x480 60hz) shows the screen repeated twice and being warped if anything other than the desktop shows. And it is always in black and white.

No matter what I try I can't get the colors to come out or the screen to just be one size that fits; there are no lower resolutions available and it won't let me lower the Hz below 60. Please help me out.

Okay please explain how to set the laptop to have the 3 component output if thats possible. If not that then i guess i have to get that adaptor. This seems weird though because in trying to find a fix ive read situation of people using this cable and it working perfectly
