RAM's at 90% CPU under 10. While doing nothing

I have a brand new laptop asus 10.1". I tried to install 121 updates about 500Mb only 70% succeeded after 24 hours. It's super slow at everything even closing any windows. It seemed slow when I first started it up. Do I have a lemon? The ram that high doing nothing unnerves me.

It's only 1 gb ram. And the os is windows 7 starter. I only will use the computer for accounting so I don't need much.

1gb of ram is very little. you should add more if you can.

You have to add more I own a A4 Laptop and it have 2 GB RAM and its always is 50% full.
