I got a Dell XPS M1210 and it will only run off of the main power cord. The battery is not recognised by the PC and no errors or lights come on.

Solution
Sorry, can't help you with the battery terminal pinout. I'd just get a new battery. They don't last all that long if the laptop is used on battery power a lot.

I'm probably just going to get a new battery. Hopefully the charging circuit is not dead. Is there a way to tell before I spend money on a battery?

There are 9 different pins to the battery. Which ones are the positive and negative?

Not on the battery. On the cable from the charger/power supply. The end that plugs into the side of the laptop should have an outer and inner contact area. The inner should be (+). Not that it matters. You're just looking for the voltage.

What I was trying to find was the voltage from the board to the battery. The power cord works fine.
