I am looking for a decent pair of headphones right now because the ones I have now are kind of falling apart. I want to spend somewhere in the price range of 250-300 dollars. I am looking at the sony mdr1r for $300. They seem okay to me but I think there are better ones out there, but I dont know where to look for good ones so I came here :D .I want over-ear headhones that look good and are comfy for long periods of time. Noise cancelling would be nice too. And if you could provide me with some links that would be great too. (canadian links though) Any help would be appreciated:bounce:

You have some very good choices available with closed back design. Nothing wrong with the Sony pair you've looked at. The V-Moda M-100 are very good at $300 and include some nice extra features like a mic cable. Also around $300 are Sennheiser Momentum, which are very good.

From personal experience I recommend both the Beyerdynamic DT-770, and Audio Technica m-50, which are in the $100-$200 range, both are excellent. Unless you are investing in other high end components to play high quality audio material, there is limited benefit from spending more than the cost of the m-50 or dt-770's.

Need to narrow it down a little bit. By noise cancelling, do you mean "active noise cancelling", or "noise isolating" which refers to over the ear closed back design? If you're looking at active noise cancelation, these have batteries and monitor external noise to cancel it out. The number of these types of headphones is significantly fewer. Also what will you be plugging them into?

those beyerdynamics look pretty comfy :D The sennheiser you mentioned for $300 are the on ear design and I want over ear headphones. The over ear momentums are $400. I was thinking of them but I though they were too expensive. I think I might just stick with the sony mdr1rs because i have a $50 giftcard for yorkdale and there is a sony store there. So it makes it 50 dollars cheaper :) Thanks though, ill definitely pick your answer as best answer.

okay umm... I have another problem. :D Apparently Sony is going down the drain, and I have had trouble with my psp. Is there any other headphones for $300 that are that isnt online? (and in canada) And again noise cancelling and over ear. OR: should I just go for the sonys?
