So I just recently built my dad a media pc for the living room and I have everything set up except for the digital cable. Is there any way to hook that up to my pc and still get all the channels and everything my dad pays for you know the HD channels and all that and not just basic cable. I know how to get basic cable running through a PC just not sure how to get all the other channels to work as well.

I have blue ridge communications it is a company thats just in my area so i doubt you will know it lol. but it would be really nice to get that working for him so he does not have to keep switching from remote to remote and input to input.

Check whether your cable operator offers CableCARDs (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CableCARD). If so, buy your dad a compatible tuner, and make the PC running Windows Media Center. All this is quite complicated, and does not work every time, and is supported by a few operators.

So - get your dad an universal programmable remote ;)
