Sometimes, when I push the start button on my Dell Inpirion Mini, only one of the two lights in the lower left corner by the keyboard comes on (the left one) and within a few seconds I hear a series of beeps and the screen stays blank. Often, after several attempts of cutting the computer off and on, the second light will turn on (right one) and the screen comes on and all is well. Can someone tell me why the laptop doesn't turn on and why it beeps please? Thanks

You need to listen to the beep sounds carefully. The beeps are a way to tell you what is wrong. If you search Dell' site for beep codes, it will tell you what your beeps relate to. For example, 2 short beeps and a long beep, can be a RAM issue. Search Google for Dell Beep Codes.
