Hey guys, so It seems that our laptop needs a new screen. There are no cracks, but the picture is distorted and looks like something was dropped on it or something. I can provide pictures if necessary, but currently don't have any. Anyway, it looks like a damaged screen, not software related.

So I'm looking for a replacement screen, but not finding much. The model of laptop is an Asus R500A. At first glance, I don't see any other markings as far as the model goes. However, when Googling for replacements, I see a further designation R500A-RS51, R500A-RS52, R500A-RS51 & R500A-RS52. So When I saw this, I started looking again to see if the laptop would match one of these designations. On the main tag there is nothing, but on the underside of the computer, on a very small tag where the barcode and manufacture date, it says R500A-RS52.

So a Google search has not turned up anything directly for the RS52 model designation. I have found RH52 and RS51, neither are an exact match. I have also found a website selling screens marked simply R500A, no further designation. Though, size and backlight etc all seem to match, I have no idea how to tell them apart. Does anyone know exactly what the designations mean and if any of these screens would work for me? Also, both screen websites look pretty shady IMO. Can anyone confirm that these websites are a safe place to buy screens OR suggest a place that would be better to buy a replacement screen? Also, what about brand - I have heard that any brand will work just fine and look like the original screen did. Is there any quality difference? Thanks so much for any help.

For reference, this is the laptop I have: Fry's identifies it as the R500A-RS52, which matches the tag on the bottom of my laptop.

This is the website that sells just the R500A screens, no further designation.

This is the website for the replacements screens that I have found, which are only marked R500A-RH52 (Gloss and Matte)

Here is the eBay link to the R500A-RS51 model.

Not at all what I asked. Obviously I know it needs to be the same one. Allow me to clarify:

I was under the impression that the model number found on the laptop itself would net me the correct replacement screen. Is this not the case?
And to verify, was your first comment directing me to obtain a different number from the broken screen itself, that would differ from the laptop's model number?

Thanks for your help.

What I mean, you need to have the same number for both screens, some manufacturer uses different screens in their laptops, but to be sure that your laptop will be compatible with the new screen without any problem, the number of your old screen must be the same number as your new screen.
