i need your help, so i use Dxtory to record, which puts my mic sound and my game sound on different tracks. so here's the problem, i somehow put the mic and game sound onto each other, and the only sound i can hear is my mic sound no game sound. i don't know if i overlapped them or what, but i cannot un- overlap them. do you have any ideas how to fix this?, when i view it in windows media player i can hear both sounds so they are there, they just overlap each other in sony vegas. HELP PLEASE

Solution
If it created two audio tracks (one with the video and a separate one for the mic) then you might need to check and see if you need to import the second audio track. Have you checked the folder where the video is saved after you record it to see if there is another audio track?

when i open vegas, there are no tracks at all. but when i import the video it only has one audio track, so i make another and try to drag them apart but it doesnt work, so before i even import it, i add a video track and two audio tracks but it still groups them into one

Do you have any other editing software that you could test it on? After effects should show you the two audio channels for example.

i put a new recording into vegas and it has done it again, i beleive it must be a setting i accidentally pushed or something, help? any settings that would do this?

How are you bringing the video into Vegas? Not familiar with the import options of Vegas so I'm guessing you are going to File and then Import or is there a media manager and all you're doing is dragging and dropping the clip. Download and try either Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip and convert the file into another format. Before exporting using either of those make sure you are hearing the audio from both tracks. Then bring the clip back into Vegas and see if you hear both tracks. It may be more of a Vegas issue with the clip than something you are doing.

okay i will give that a try today, thank you. here's something i noticed though, when i record short videos (5-10 mins) it has both audio tracks, but my 1 hour - 2 hour clips it doesn't? is there a setting in vegas that would do that? or is there a setting in DXtory that i can use to counter act that? maybe have it split into 30 min increments ?

In Sony Vegas go to "Options" and then "Preferences" ... open a window with many options. among the options you will see "Allow Wave renders up to 4GB" and this refers to PCM audio files and in addition this option, there are also other as "fact chunk Ignore When opening compressed files Wave" and "Render large Wave files as Wave64" .
All they have to do with audio, just do not know if solve your problem, because I do not know what kind of audio is that you have there in your video.
If the above options do not resolve your problem, try to extract audio from your videos with Audacity shown here ➔ http://youtu.be/0VSx141tIvo
The video link above is not in your language, but anyone can extract the audio from a video with Audacity just watching the same video.
Many errors in writing? ... Translator's fault :D

Only now I'm here ... to download files at 4shared site, yes you can log in using your Facebook or other such crap that is out there, but it is better you simply create an account at 4shared own, just as you did when you created your account here, and you logged into this account can download the file you want on 4Shared, understand ??
