I am going to buy a laptop but confused somewhat.Consider
One laptop with i5 4200u,6gb ram,gt750m DDR5,500gb hybrid hdd with 8gb cache And other with i5 4200m,8gb ram,gt 740m DDR3,1tb hdd.which is overall better?will i5 4200m will make great differences as compared to i5 4200u And 750m ddr5 to 740m ddr3.?which one should i buy between these??I will use my laptop to do coding in c,c++,phython,matlab,java etc,huge internet browsing and downloading,medium gaming,movies,photoshop and some animation with maya3d.

Solution
The i5-4200u is a bit weaker than the i5-4200m especially when not using Turbo Boost (TB). TB is an automatic overclock assuming the CPU is not running too hot. The base max speed without TB is 1.6GHz for the i5-4200u and 2.5GHz for the i5-4200m. The i5-4200u is a ULV (ultra low voltage) CPU which offers better battery life at the cost of performance.

With TB enabled the i5-4200u can reach 2.6GHz (one core) / 2.4GHz (two cores).The i5-4200m can reach 3.1GHz (one core) / 2.9GHz (two cores) with TB enabled.If the CPU gets too hot then TB will be deactivated and the CPU will throttle below the max base speed.

The GT 750m is more powerful than the GT 740m graphics chip. Even more so with it has DDR5 RAM. There is a significant performance...

IF 500GB ENOUGH FOR YOU,
BUY >> [i5 4200u,6gb ram,gt750m DDR5,500gb hybrid hdd with 8MB cache] WILL MAKE GREAT DIFFERENCE AS COMPARED TO
[i5 4200m,8gb ram,gt 740m DDR3,1tb hdd]
AFTER ALL YOU CAN UPGRADE RAM LATER BUT NOT NESSESARY 6GB IS ENOUGH.

The GT 750m is more powerful than the GT 740m graphics chip. Even more so with it has DDR5 RAM. There is a significant performance difference. This is a case where you have:

#1) A weak CPU + strong GPU
#2) A strong CPU + weak GPU

Several benchmarks have shown that laptop #1 provides better gaming performance because of the strong GPU. However, for programs that are CPU intensive (MATLAB, Maya 3D) laptop #2 will be the better choice simply because the CPU is more powerful. As long as the CPU does not get too hot and TB gets deactivated, laptop #1 is decent enough outside of games.
