I have a Sony STRDG720 A/V receiver that does not have an optical out port. I was recently gifted a set of Sony Wireless Headphones that connect using a digital optical cable. I realize it is not possible to connect the headphones to my receiver, and I'll have to connect to my components (satellite and Apple TV). In doing this though, I still can't get any sound through the headphones, I'm guessing it's because the signal for these components is routed via HDMI through the receiver. Does anyone know how I can make the headphones work short of buying a receiver with an optical out port?

would work. Make sure you don't get the reverse type which converts digital to analog (much more common).
It would connect to the analog record out of the receiver.
