Here's the problem...I have a Sharp XG-v10wu projector I found cheap. I'm trying to hook it up to my new RCA surround sound/dvd/blue ray player. It only has an hdmi out. So, the projector senses the incoming signal (although 720 is the highest it finds) but wont display the image...what am I missing? I can't imagine a $20k projector being this hard to hook up!

Are you trying this with a standard DVD or with a Blu-Ray disc? If the projector is not HDCP compliant (and given it's age, it may not be), a Blu-Ray disc may not display an image.

Also, what model RCA home theater system did you purchase?

Sharp XG-V10WU Projector Manual.

Another point of interest: Pg E16
Quote:
This DVI port is DVI version 1.0 compatible. Therefore when the signal is input from copy
guard system compatible (DVI version 2.0) equipment, no signal will be received.

It's an RCA rtb10223. Yes, I saw that...tried both types of dvi cable...3x3 and 24pin...no go. If it isn't hdcp, any other ideas?

Did you try it with a standard DVD?

Based on what I'm seeing on pg E-17, you could probably use a Composite to BNC Video Cable, but I still don't know if you'll be able to view Blu-Ray discs.

Yes, already tried bnc-rca adapters and that isn't workable either as the player only has yellow, white, red rca outs...not composite.

As shown on Pg E-17, it shows the "Video Cable" (single RCA eg yellow composite) OR "Component Cables". You would connect the RCA video cable to the first (left most) BNC connector.
