I was given a Samsung laptop with a screen that might be broken. When I boot the laptop up I literally get nothing on the screen. It lights up as if something's going to happen but nothing comes on the screen. I know with monitors you can "reset" them but am not too familiar with laptops. Any have any suggesions?

We know its not a GPU problem because it's putting an image out, just not through the LCD. If you can, I'd take the bottom off and try to trace where the wires come from the LCD to plug into the motherboard. One time the plug that connects the LCD wires to the motherboard somehow got unplugged on my laptop. All I had to do was put them back, and it worked fine. If that's not the problem, then yeah, it's a bad LCD.

First try plugging it into a monitor/TV via the HDMI/VGA plug. If it shows up on the monitor then you know you have a bad LCD. If it doesn't, then you know you have a GPU.
