By the way, I will not be upgrading the laptop so please give me an opinion of it not being upgraded.
Laptop 1: medion akoya p6643 (£489)
Pros: Good processor, good gpu (gt 740m)
Cons: Only 4gb ram

Pros: cheaper price, good gpu (gt 740m)
Cons: Bad cpu, only 4gb ram

More RAM can almost always be added later. The GPU you can't. You're stuck with whatever it comes with.

I'd opt for a better GPU over more RAM initially.
Laptop 1, and add 4GB more RAM in 6 months.

From the first one:
Total RAM slots: 2
Used RAM slots: 1

It appears there is an empty RAM slot. And usually, it's just a cover on the bottom over the space.

Ok then do you think it is worth to pay for the £449 one with a core i3 or pay £489 for the better core i5

Completely depends on your budget and use, but I would.
