Surround Sound to desktop to tv?

Hi i have my 5.1 surround sound hooked up to my tv then my tv hooked up to my desktop all via HDMI but i'm not sure how to get sound to come from them

Assuming you mean you are trying to get your PC output to your receiver (audio) and TV (video), you need to take the output from your graphics card (HDMI) to an HDMI input on your 5.1 receiver. Then take the output from your receiver (HDMI) to an HDMI input on your TV.
