well after 10 years my Logitech X-540's that I bought refurbished off of eBay are dead. I spilled some water that got on the subwoofer and the power button/volume knob box and now they won't turn on. I don't know if I can use the speakers again maybe?

but I would like to get a new set, something that will sound good and include a subwoofer, is preferably around $50, won't have any buzz or static, and surround sound would be nice because my pc is a gaming pc that I use for entertaining in my room as well

can you make some recommendations please, doesn't have to be theater quality

well for $50 i think surround sound is out of the question. if you could stretch your budgt to $70 or perhaps buy on ebay to save some cash the z-506 isnt a bad set.

if you cant then you are stuck with 2.1

the logitech z313 is a pair of budget speakers but really is pretty darn good for the low prices of $30 or less. if you want something with decent kick the genius sw-g2.1 speaker set isnt bad and certainly is decently loud. the z323 also isnt a terrible set to go with. if you can forgoe a subwoofer the creative T12's arent too bad.

of course there are a few other options available.

those z-506 speakers look PERFECT, they're surround sound plus logitech plus hook up to my pc ipod or 360, and if the center speaker has an independent volume then that's even better, I'll have to see if I can find them on sale

if not, would the z313s work well for a small room? just having two speakers seems like a downgrade from my 5, but theyre newer and could be much better sound quality

I found the z506s refurbished for $50, I bought my speakers refurbished and they lasted many many years, but will they have the same feint buzz sound?

another example, my refurbished turtle beach x11's have the same feint noise, but my new x12's do not

z313 is more than enough volume for a small room though if you want surround sound i agree its a bit of a downgrade.

they are a lower end speaker so likely arent as good as the z506 in terms of sound quality (but rather similar)

i would buy them new not used.
