Hi everyone,

I've just received my new Y410p it's got a i7-4700MQ Processor and 8GB ram. The CPU is running at 100% on a fresh game I just started, not even doing anything (idle in the game) and it's 100%. Not sure if there is some setting on Civ 5 I am missing, but this can't be normal! Please let me know if you have any ideas, thanks!

Most likely the specs of the laptop are too weak to run it well. Just cause you buy a new PC, doesnt mean that itll play everything ya want. There is a reason why $700 video cards exist. And it being a laptop, well, unless ya spend a silly amount of money on one, they arent for gaming no matter how they are marketed.

The specs are quite good though, latest i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT755M GDDR5 2GB card, should be enough to run Civ 5. It plays on my desktop with much worse specs without this kind of 100% CPU utilization

Hmmm, playing it under DirectX 9 instead of 10/11 seems to have put it back to normal (18% CPU utilization when idle) I'll have to look into it more, but that seems to have fixed it for now
