Just got FIOS and dolby surround sound only works with sd tv. When I'm on hd tv channels, I either get no sound or just the background music or occasionally all the sound. It often changes when the show goes to commercials. I have been through all the supposed fixes with FIOS. They didn't work. They think it's the cables but I have swapped out cables I know work and it made no difference. When I use Roku or Apple TV the sound is fine.

Solution
What outputs/cable type are you using? Are you using the speakers in the TV? IF not using the TV speakers what speaker system are you using?

It could be a combination of things; the HD program doesn't have any Dolby encoding, settings are wrong for FOIS, TV or receiver.

Happy surround and be seeing you, the Prisoner...

well its a pretty recent model, and well known receiver, so i think its probably not the problem. Sometimes they release firmware updates for them to fix things, so check for new firmware. as above said, check fios output settings, try another cable even an optical or coax cable instead of hdmi, or vice versa.
