Hello,

I have an old laptop sony vaio eb1m1e. I'm am trying to update the graphics driver for my Radeon HD 5650 in order to run hardware acceleration in VLC when watching movies. It doesn't seem to work however because the installation of the drivers tells me that the card is not supported. I remember having the same problem on a Siemens laptop a few years ago where the manufacturers locked the computer for new graphics drivers. Am I doing something wrong or isn't it possible to run newer drivers on this computer?

Thanks!

You wouldn't happen to know the exact model of your laptop would you? If you do I can provide you a direct link to the drivers. I understand that it is a eb1m1e but there are specific models that have specific drivers. If you can give me that I can give you the drivers! Also what country are you from so that I know which website to search as the uk models are slightly different and once again have different drivers on different websites.

try this page http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VPCEC2RFXBI&upd_id=5681. Download it and try to update the drivers. It will be able to tell you whether or not your particular graphics can be upgraded.
