line of site issue with direct tv

i live in arizona in an apartment on the north side of my building and ground floor. Landlord says the satellite dish has to be on tripod, can't be mounted on the roof. I am wondering if Dish can get a line of site? I got cable since direct tv said there was not a line of site, but hate cable and really want my satellite. I was a dish customer forever and uverse but since uverse isn't offered in tempe az, i have to find a satellite company or use over the air antenna cause I hate cox cable and am getting rid of it.help please

The Dish network satellites are closer to the horizon than the DirecTV satellites are so if you can't get DirecTV you probably are out of luck with Dish as well. I believe your landlord is required by law to allow you access to any provider you want. They can stipulate they prefer the dish to be mounted in the yard but if it can't be they very well may have to allow it to be mounted to the house or apartment if that's the only way it will work. Check your local laws and see.

I believe that the laws that are referred to were originally for roof top over the air TV antennas. Don't think that there are any provisions that the landlord is supposed to do anything other than give you access to the roof. They don't have to provide line of sight to satellite or access to cable providers.
