I have a Sony STR-DH740 Receiver powered with a Polk audio TL 1600 5.1 speakers. I connect my windows 8 64 bits PC to my receiver using HDMI from my AMD Radeon 7800 series video card, i already set the PC to detect the 5.1 and i performed the test and all the speakers works properly, the issue comes when i play music the subwoofer doesn't works and the only speakers working are the fronts speakers, when i played any movie on the PC the speakers works perfectly and decodes dts and dolby digital sounds and all the speakers works, but again with the music i dnt get multi stereo and also i cant get any sound from my subwoofer.

I'll appreciate your help
Thank you

I believe you will need to select a surround mode other than "Auto" when playing music. With the digital surround sources the receiver detects which surround mode it is being fed and sets itself. Almost no music is surround sound and so it defaults to stereo. Select a music mode. You also may have to set the receiver to allow the sub to operate in all modes so it will play in stereo. Check the manual.
