Greetings:

A few days ago I made a friend's laptop (ASUS K75v) from Win 8 X86 into Win 7 X64.
Operation was successful system worked spendidily.

Today, he came to collect said floptop, asking me to add a password.
Told him, the best way was a BIOS Password, since a Windows Password is darned easely bypassed.

Entered BIOS (not the first time, I had to activate DVD boot, this was locked out), I set the Supervisor Password and the User Password (different from the SPW).
Operation success: save and exit... and suddenly it went, after putting in the requested password, into BIOS.
I don't know why: I did not ask for this.
Exit without saving, reboot, password... and BIOS again.
Exit without save, press escape (I hoped to get into the Boot Option), password request (fill in), and Boot Menu pops up... with as ONLY option Enter Setup.

Seems both the HDD and DV are "gone", no boot options.

Inside BIOS both do appear (Bus 0 for HDD, bus 2 for DVD).

Trying to let BIOS figure out the boot on the HDD< not found???

I am at a total loss here.
Anyone, please, that can help me?

Thank you beforehand.

Since you can get into the BIOS my first step would be simply removing the password to see what happens. However I have a feeling you have turned on secure boot by accident.

Thank you for responding.

I allready did this, thinking the pw's were conflicting with the Anti-Theft which was enabled.
Forgot to mention this in my search for the culprit online (though nothing found).

As for the secure boot, this is disabled.

PS: As said: at restart, the floptop keeps returning to BIOS for some reason.
BIOS dead?
HDD/DVD controller dead?

Really strange...

After Factory Reset, the problem persists.
