OK, I just purchased the Razer Kraken 7.1s and I noticed that there was a hissing noise in the background. The Krakens are completely usb and I have tried using all other ports on my pc and I even tried them on a different pc and the hissing noise was still there. If anyone has experience or knows how to fix this problem any of your help would be gratefully appreciated!

I do have this problem as well, and I also contacted Razer about this. This is what they said:
The buzzing sound you are hearing is caused by the USB connection within computer systems that have a grounding issue and not due to the Razer Kraken 7.1 headset. Some USB ports will cause this so we recommend switching the USB cable to a different USB port on your rig. If all your USB ports show the same buzzing sound, you may need to purchase an AC to USB converter (sold separately). On laptops the buzzing sound may be slightly louder because of the way the USB ports are connected internally.

Please note, If you turn up the volume of the Razer Kraken 7.1 to higher levels and have no audio playing you may still hear some hissing. Unless it is abnormally loud and still audible when audio is played through the headset, this would be considered normal and you will notice this sound when using any high quality analog headset that is capable of reproducing these higher frequencies.

Try to mute your mic, the headset is probably configured to play back whatever the mic picks up, which would create a constant background noise [because the audio output would ALWAYS be open, even if the mic volume was set all the way to the bottom]. So check Windows to see if the mic is set to playback whatever it picks up.

Is there other USB devices connecting to you PC?
Try disconnecting them one by one to find the cause of the static noise.
Some USB devices may cause the static noise in your headset.

Well if you don't mind the change in sound you could open razer synapse and drop down the last 4 or 5 sliders on EQ because this would make the hiss so quiet you can hear it while most sound would be audible.

I have this same problem, but with the 3.5mm jack version. It's not a USB-only problem and is unlikely related to grounding because it only occurs in-game. No problem outside of applications/working at the desktop. It's not the mic.

Same problem with my new Razer Kraken Pro (3.5mm. analog connection).
I had no problems at all with my old "cheap" headset but know I heard a buzzing sound playing BF3 or BF4 with my Kraken Pro.
Any tip would be apreciated.

Was the hissing/static sound constant or just when audio is playing? My issue is static sound in the background when any type of audio is playing :/

Did you manage to fine a fix for this issue? And was the hissing.static sound just when audio was playing?

Hello people,

i was just playing around with my headset and what i discovered, is that when i set my volume above 72 (out of 100), it gives me hissing noise.
Anyway when im below 72 (which i suppose will be different with every sound-card) its still hissing but not really noticable.
Hope this will solve it for some of you.

While trying to get Fraps to record my voice i accidentally found the fix for the problem which is hopefully the same one as yours.

Right click the little speaker on the system tray (bottom right) >
Click "Playback Devices" >
Right click your Kraken & click "Properties" >
Click the "Advanced tab" >
Click the dropdown menu and set it to "2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)" >
& click Apply.

This is assuming the headset was on CD Quality by default (as mine was). and with any luck this will solve your hissing problem
Would be interested to hear your feedback

Hello guys! I'm Edwin from TheGamersGame YouTube channel.

I had a similar problem with my headphones. The had a hissing, white noise type of sound (specially at low volumes) and the volume was low in some application like google chrome.

I tried a lot of things but what actually worked was the volume level. I thought that the window's volume controller was synced with the volume controller in Sypnase 2.0 but that is not the case! The volume I had in Sypnase was really low and even when I maxed out the volume on windows, it wouldn't move up. So what you have to do is take off your headphones (it will get loud) and maxed out the volume in Sypnase, then max out the volume in windows. After that you can just control the volume from the windows controller.

I hope this helps.

Hey guys, i bought my Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma edition last week and ive been having big problems with it.

1) When i plug the usb into the port it says device is ready to be used but when i play my game the audio is coming from the laptop not the headphone. i set it as default deivce still it didnt work.

2) my mic has a white light which is meant to be, when i try to get the audio to work there will be like some background noises which is quite loud and my mic light will start blinking

3) While trying to make my audio work suddenly all my lights will turn off but its still plugged in

4) While playing my fifa online 3, i plugged in my razer kraken and the game crashes but when i try with my apple earphones it works perfectly.

It would be much appreciated if i could get some help.
