I just got my Steelseries Siberia V2 Frost Blue. when I plugged it in the sound was working great but the microphone would not pick up my voice. I installed the new drivers and everything. When I go on control panel and look at my mic and talk the bar doesn't show that my voice was picked up.

Solution
I had tyhe same problem with my G930s, and my solution was to use a different USB port. I am not sure the USB3.0 ports work correctly with the headsets and their mics, and that might be the problem. here are some of the other solutions I have heard people use when mine weren't working:

-Windows 7 drivers
-Sound card Drivers
-Headset drivers
-Restart Computer
-In manage audio devices, set the headset as the default mic
-go to the properties of the headset, make sure its not muted/extremely low there.

I solved this on the whole computer by changing it in Skype, though. I made the input Microphone 2 instead of Microphone 1 in the Skype audio settings.

ok im sorry to reopen this post if it was closed. I opened up a new ticket but trying to fix this thing is beginning to be a pain, google is not working for me because noone seems to have the same problem as me. Just like you figured I think it has to be a USB 3.0 problem, i tried using all the usb ports I have and to no avail. Just the other day my LED Lights (Frost Blue Siberia v2) and my microphone were ALL working fine (my sound still works on my headset). but now nothing. no microphone. and no LED lights. everything is set to default for my siberia v2s. nothing works. tried uninstall all the drivers and what not. The only possible solution I came up with was possibly a conflict in driver (ch, steel series >.>) with my windows 7 or some other software. Can you specify all your given details about the tagged solutions ? Please and Thank you

So, I was having similar issues, and the resolution for me was pretty low-tech.
The microphone boom has a small hole in it. I noticed that when I moved the boom and touched the hole with my fingertip, it recognized a loud sound and at any other time, the mic was picking up almost nothing.
Turns out that if you move the mic boom closer to your mouth and make sure the hole in the boom is facing your lips it makes a SIGNIFICANT (understatement) difference in the amount of sound picked up by the mic.
This, of course, after tearing out all my hair in frustration trying to find a solution online regarding drivers, configuration, hardware, etc.
It wasn't until I'd blown off some steam by killing my neighbors with a high heeled shoe and eating their spleens that I investigated the mic boom itself.
Probably, it was, the oxygen-richness of the red blood cells in their spleens that finally gave me the mind fuel to solve the problem without being spoon fed the solution by the faceless internet infolords upon which we have come to depend.

I wanted to address this problem as I was having the same problem, however the fix that worked for me was completely unrelated to solution in here. Note that my issue was specifically that I could hear through my headphones, but when plugging in the mic line, windows wasn't picking up my voice. I'll describe the problem and the solution.

I have a case that supports two front jacks, one for a headset and one for a mic. The SteelSeries Sibera v2 don't use USB, but rather two separate jacks for the headset and the mic, although physically the mic is obviously attached to the headphones. I have an MSI board that comes with its own software separate from the windows audio drivers. Since MSI has its own software, windows treated it as the main source and then fed it back to the windows drivers. So the issue is that the MSI software was telling windows I ONLY had a headset connected, but still detected the mic was plugged in! I realized in the MSI driver/program settings that the default setting for recording devices was to "Tie up the same type of input jacks, i.e. in-line or microphone as input device". This is the INCORRECT setting to use! Below it, there is a box that has the description "Separate all input hacks as independent input devices." This is the CORRECT setting to use!

This forces the windows audio driver to see two separate devices (or channels), a headset and a microphone. This will reflect in playback/recording devices. Phew, now windows recognizes an independent microphone as a recording device! Now at this stage, windows sees a microphone, however it still isn't picking up my voice. It is at this stage that you MUST open up the Advanced Speech Settings found in control panel ->speech recognition-> advanced speech options.

In this dialog, you have (at the bottom of the dialog) an Advanced... option. When you open that, you get to the final dialog, which is Audio Input Setting. It is HERE that you MUST tell windows NOT TO USE THE PREFERRED AUDIO INPUT DEVICE, but to select "USE THIS AUDIO INPUT DEVICE". From this drop down, select the microphone that we enabled through the MSI software, which in my case windows sees the microphone now on the pink front port. When we reach this stage, and hit Ok/Apply, windows will now listen to this device and accept it as a recording device!

Finally, go back into recording devices, go into the Properties section of the recording device, to the Levels tab in the dialog, and turn up the level and you should be good to go!
