Laptop shuts down when playing

I have an Asus and I recently installed a game but whenever it reaches the main menu ingame my notebook simply shuts down. Could the reason be the fact that it uses another power adapter, with a much smaller power capacity, something like 65 W when it should have 120 W ?

Yes. You'll need to have the right power supply. Demanding games will consume more W, while the charge up isent enough. It will slowly drain the battery. You can test it by leaving it charged for a couple of hours, then start the game, and check how long it runs, before it shuts down.
