Help with cinema 4d

I've recently upgraded my computer from a duo core dual cores only, gt 8800, and 2.5 GB RAM, to gtx 780, i7-4770k, and 16 GB RAM 1600mhz (I had a laptop but I did the rendering on the old desktop, because my laptop overheats). So... When I installed c4d on my new desktop, I can't see that much difference in the speeds of the rendering process, does anyone have any idea in making it faster? And will a workstation gpu increase the speed of the render, I also heard that cinema 4d uses cpu rendering but, can you explain to me in detail of what I'll have to do in order to run a GPU rendered? Thanks for who-ever that will try to help me.

Are you using the latest version of Cinema 4D? It should utilize all your cores so should be at least 4 times as fast as the old processor. Check the CPU usage to see that all cores are in use. If you still have the old computer you can use netRendering and improve speeds even more. There are some settings that can control the number of threads in use; the manual should explain how to use these.

But all of this rather assumes that you are using a recent version of the software. (BTW, using the 64-bit version will give you a further 20%+ increase in speed.) If you want further increases, look at an external renderer that will utilize CPU+GPU; e.g. http://www.m4d.info/index.php?id=15336

Thank you guys for the quick replies, I will give m4d a try, Thank you Ijack, Also thank you noidea_77 for #1 the quick reply #2 for looking up some information for me. You guys seem to have some information about c4d, and just know that you made my day :).
