hey my dad bought this laptop about 3-4 years ago of course it is a little older but it can't possibly be this slow!

it is an Asus G60VX wiith a Intel Core Duo and a Geforce GTX 260M...

This laptop runs extremely slow and I know used to be a lot faster.

Do I need to replace the the HDD with an SSD Sata III? Does it even have SSD support i know most laptops only have 2.5" bays but i am not sure about this computer or why this tech is slowing down

Please and thank you.

Solution
do a fresh install of the operating system. best way to breathe new life into an aging machine, typically. computers slow down over time because of drivers installed over drivers. programs interweaving themselves throughout your operating system. programs on startup. blah blah blah.

fresh install fixes all that.

i should also add, stay away from norton and mcafee virus scanners. theyre notorious for slowing down machines. avast is pretty decent.

additionally, i should point out, windows 8 is great for older machines (if compatible) because windows 8 tends to use less memory than windows 7

Degrag registry and Hard drive
uninstall programs that ware not needed
clean hard drive
dust out any possible dust inside the laptop
repair hard drive and registry
Try to limit programs running in background, make sure programs do not start at start up

it makes it fairly fast it does take a couple of boots for the ssd to get used to the os

note youll need to get a new os
