I just bought an Asus S56CB, that has an i7 3517U, and Win8. I was hoping that the OS would be installed on the SDD, it is 24g and I am wanting the OS to take up the majority of it. Is there anyway to transfer the OS from HDD to SDD in my laptop?

The base installation, maybe. Add one or two monthly updates, anti-virus....
Even with applications installed elsewhere, they usually save some data within the Windows install....AppData, User, etc.

A 24GB SSD will not work for the OS. That is almost certainly meant to be just a cache drive, and not a standalone drive for the OS.

It will not work.

Oh, shoot, I was under the impression that Win8 OS was around 18-20g, and therefore should fit into my 24g SD?

And with an SSD, you need to leave 10-15% free, to allow the TRIM function to do its thing.

A 24GB drive will not work in normal use.

For an OS SSD, I recommend nothing smaller than a 128GB. Even a 64GB is marginal.

Ok, thank you VERY MUCH for your answers and time :D, extremely dissapointed that I cannot put the OS onto the SSD :(... so then I should just use the SSD for whatever programs I plan on running the most? Its really just some niche thing at this point I guess

I have 2 128GB SSDs. OS and applications on one, working data on the other.
The C drive is currently ~50GB used space. Anything smaller than a 128GB drive, and I'd be sweating that free space.
