Question of Quality - HDTVs

Sup. So I recently treated myself to a Xbone and this question has been on my mind since I popped the first game in. Now perhaps I'm an over-entitled PC gamer use to graphics being at the high-ultra range, but I noticed that the quality of the game, or Dead Rising 3 in this case, was rather meh.

I'm currently using a 37" Vizio, 1080p w/ a RR of 120hz-[L.E.D] It's around 3 years old, and with everything been said, and granted the age of said TV, would upgrading to a Samsung or LG provide a more fluent and perhaps appealing picture? As from what I've been told, more mainstream providers such as the 2 listed above possess a much more, or as I've been told, provide a more quality product.

My question is if I were to upgrade to perhaps a Samsung, Panasonic, etc, would there be a recognizable altercation for the better in terms of picture and quality as opposed to my 3 yo Vizio ?

have you been happy with the vizio for the past 3 years for presumably dvd movies and or cable? does the screen look appealing for that?

will a samsung, sony or lg (top 3 brands pretty much) television look better than vizio? perhaps.

is it going to fix the issue that xb one will look like CRAP compared to pc graphics? no. even a relatively low level computer can completely trample any console. they run at lower settings and at lower fps.

TLDR: if your tv works fine for everything else i wouldnt upgrade it. its likely just sucky graphics of console compared with pc.

Thank you for your feedback, and in terms of satisfaction in regards to the TV, it has been relatively high, even up to now, disregarding the built in sound.

I did plug in my Xboner into my 24" asus 1080 1ms 144hz monitor, and christ it still looked like garbage, so your argument is valid.

However, when you named the 3 primary brands and pointed out that they would "Look better", in which category would this fall under? Because at this point, I'd take anything considering just how bleh it looks.

in general, higher end televisions *might* give you better color, perhaps better contrast, and perhaps viewing angle but this depends on the type of panel used and what video processing they have (for example sony's bravia engine). honestly though vizio televisions do not look bad at all (some models at least) and it is not a night and day difference.

to be completely blunt and honest here.... buying a new tv is not likely to help. compared to pc, console graphics blow.

they often run at lower fps (so are less smooth) often run at a lower resolution (sometimes at 720p "upscaled" to 1080) and run on lower graphics settings (such as medium or high instead of ultra or ultra-high) or with settings disabled (such as less AA or less shadows) to get them to run smoothly. basically they run more similar to a $400 pc than the common gaming rig so there is typically a huge power difference between gaming computers and consoles which results in a big difference in "what they can handle"
