lenovo y510p must play on charge if not It will lag

Solution
I was gonna go for a y510p but had to settle for a z500. I too have the same issue but I figured that games lag a bit when not plugged in, but that lagging is temporary as the CPU will raise it's core clock to rated speed after a while. So the games will work nicely after a minute or two. Atleast it happens to my z500. You can change that by going to Control Panel>> Power options and change the power plan to High performance mode. It makes sure that your CPU always runs at rated speed which in turn drains your battery a lot quicker. So, I find it just better to play while the machine is plugged in.

well if i remember correctly this is the sli version right? You should be able to fix this in power management in your laptop, but i think you will get like 1.5hr of gaming and it will be very stressing on your battery, its safer to play while its pluged.

That's unfortunately a common dilemma among all laptops - it's mainly due to usage of low power CPUs and GPUs that will cause lag if you try to run it on battery mode. I have a Lenovo Y500 and I experience the same thing when I try to play games on battery vs. when you have it plugged in.
