I'm looking to get a new laptop soon to replace my old HP (which I've been unhappy with for multiple reasons).
Thought I'd found one, but alas it is out of stock - http://holiday.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/html/pbPage.PDP/Dell-Inspiron-15z-Touchscreen-Laptop/productID.288325300

Here are my reqs. (would like to get before the end of the year)

1. What is your budget?
$500+- range
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
i5,500g HD,32g SSD, 6 to 8g memory
3. What screen resolution do you want?
acceptable for web design work
A touchscreen is not absolutely essential, but would be nice to have.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
portable?
5. How much battery life do you need?
7+ hours would be great
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Do no gaming, but do lots of web design/imaging and video editing work
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
photo/video editing,spreadsheets,watching movies
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
currently have 250g, would need 500g min.
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
newegg,microsoft,frys,amazon,lenovo outlet,dell outlet
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
5 years would be great
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
DVD ROM/Writer
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Have past experience with HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Lenovo. Prefer looking towards Dell, Asus, or Lenovo as they have better reviews/support. I really like that ASUS has a 2 year warranty (when you buy thru certain retailers like Frys).
13. What country do you live in?
USA
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
A touchscreen is not essential but would be nice to have.
Would prefer a notebook that I can later upgrade as needed if possible - HD, SSD, memory, battery
The laptop needs 4 USB 3.0 ports and mSATA port.
Wish that SSD were further along (as far as prices being more reasonable).
In the best of all worlds, I would have a 500g SSD. Would all my programs need to be on the SSD in addition to the OS? I'm sure that would not fit on 25 to 32g for notebooks with SSD in my price range.
Thanks!
