Hello, im new to this forum, so im not sure if this is in the right part of the forum, but...

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CS390JCR model notebook, and the screen had broke a year back, and after that, i kind of abandoned it. Well, i recently decided i wanted to use it again, and the os i was using at the time was Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I would really like to install Windows 7, but without the screen, i am at a loss, as i cant see my bios to change the boot order. The display will not show up on an external monitor until an OS has been loaded, (ex. Ubuntu will not show on the monitor until it has already loaded the OS)

If someone with this model, or someone who has knowledge of this model, could possibly give me a keystroke guide to change my boot order, or suggest another way to install windows without the use of a USB or DVD (i could not use a DVD anyways, as the disk drive is broken), i would be eternally grateful.

Edit: To Save people the time of readin through the suggested answers to see what ive tried, and to see if it was solved...
-I have tried closing the lid immediately after pushing th power button, and does not make my external monitor first display choice until after OS boots, like before.
-Ive even tried disconnecting the screen all together and oknly having the external monitor connected, and still nothing until after OS boots.
-Ive tried my Fn+F7 button combo to switch displays, and nothing unless OS is running, i.o, wont work while in BIOS
-tried taking my hard drive out to boot to Windows 7 bootable USB, but nothing shows on monitor, nor does anything show on my broken screen if im correct (the screen stays black in the small area i can still see color) so im guessing it wont boot to USB unless the boot order is changed.

I have already considered that option, and have found one for cheeper, however i would much rather not buy a new screen if i dont have to. I love using my external anyways, so i wouldnt even be using the screen. However, if that is my only option, then so be it. Would much rather have some other fix however.

That did not work. Push power button, immediately close the lid, push button for my bios, and nothing shows on the monitor. Waited a few minutes, and still nothing. I opened the lid, and i could see on the small portion of the screen that still shows some color that the bios is up, just nothing on the monitor.

You may consider this solved if you have a screwdriver and a piece of tape.
Take out the battery and unplug. Open the bottom access panel. Remove two screws labeled as kb. Flip it over and use a thin blade to carefully pop off the keyboard. At the top left hand side is a recess with the monitor leads. Pop up the left hand side one. It lifts upwards. Leave the other one attached or the machine won't boot. Put some tape to prevent the connector from shorting to anything and leave it disconnected. Close up and reboot. It will find the external monitor during boot and let you access the bios now. Nothing much there, after jumping through hoops to get at it.
