I disassembled my acer laptop to clean dust.since there was no dust i reassembled it without doing anything.now it won't turn on.when i plugges it into a/c it shows that the battery is been charged.(led is on) when i try to switch on the laptop without installing the battery nothing happens.is this a serious situation?do i have to go for a new laptop.my laptop model is acer aspire 5742-6874.

pull it apart again but this time make sure you connect all the ribbon cables and make sure your not trapping any of em.
while its apart turn it on (as long as your not on a conductive surface). if it comes on its likely you forgot to attach something properly the last time round.

Ok, so have you tried switching it on with installing the battery? Does it work then? Your post is confusingly worded.

Does absolutely nothing happen when you press the power button? I bet you disconnected the ribbon for it and forgot to put it back or didn't put it in all the way. It's really hard to fry a computer just by opening it up.

sorry mate im dyslexic so my grammar and spelling suck... my bad.
take it apart fully and and check all the ribbons and connectors, you may have missed 1 which may stop it from powering on.
is it hard to kill a pc, in some cases no. things like static shocks will fry a cpu quicker than you can say ouch!.

how much of it did you disasemble. to me that means you took it apart down to component level.. if your just meaning you removed the battery then i gotta ask what did you clean the vents and battery with...

When you remove the cover on an acer laptop, you have to disconnect the ribbon cables for the trackpad, keyboard and the power button. If you weren't careful when taking the cover off you might have pulled the ribbon cables out without realizing it.
