Hello :]
i just had a few questions
Im big into music, lots of styles, including metal and dubstep, so bass is important
it is also a gaming pc, so i will be using it for that aswell, along with normal youtube etc.

i'm planning on purchasing the corsair sp2500 2.1 speaker system,
And pairing them with the Asus essence stx sound card
if anyone has any thoughts on either of those products, or the pairing of them. or concerns, just chime in.

i would love as much info as i can before forking over 400 bucks or so
but my main question is actually about the sub specifically,
my desk is very small, under the desk is 18" wide, The sub is 18.1"
im planning on taking a power sander to each side and taking an 16th inch off both. (its not a nice desk)
my question is will the sub being under such a small desk effect the sound for the worse?
and also, if the sub ends up being a tight fight, like litterally being against both sides tightly.
is that bad?? or would it help?
or have no effect besides just shaking my desk?

anything will help
thank you

Solution
The sub being under the desk will affect the quality of the bass. Having the sub wedged tightly will probably be an improvement as it will keep the cabinet from vibrating as much. I would put some foam between the woofer and desk.
You can use the tone controls or EQ that you might have available in the audio control panel or specific program you are using to improve the bass quality.

You don't really need the essence as it's a headphone card. A xonar dsx would work fine for speakers. I'm not too sure about your plan with the sub. Personally, I'd either put the sub off to the side, or get a slightly smaller one.

If i had the option for it to be on the side of my desk i would, Its in the bedroom so on one side it is directly against my dresser, and the same on the other side with a bookshelf.

and the essence is geared towards headphones, but it is also very much aimed at people with 2.1 setups

How much of an effect would you expect?
