A few nights ago my Dad accidentally knocked my laptop off a stand and unfortunately I had some speakers plugged into the aux port. The only problem is now the aux port. When plugged in normally sound comes out of the speakers AND my laptop which obviously should not be happening. It has to be held a certain way(to the right toward the screen) and a message pops up saying a device has been plugged in and the sound will stop coming out of the laptop speakers and only the external speakers. I have some experience with taking laptops apart but none with soldering and repair such as this. Just wondering what my options are to fix this problem..

Professionally Fixed - Cost?
Fix on my own - Cost? Time? Difficulty?

Thanks for any help.

Depends on the laptop and its configuration as to whether it is better for you to consider a professional fix versus doing it yourself. For example, my Asus laptop has bad placement of the power plug and my wife tends to put pressure on it, which eventually led to the socket losing its connectivity. I researched the issue and found that I could replace the power board for about an hours worth of my time and $15 whereas a professional fix would've probably cost at least $100 and my PC would've been gone for up to 3 weeks or so depending on how backlogged the place may be.

So, my advice is to research the issue and see if you can find any youtube videos on your particular laptop model. Then you can asses the difficulty and how...

I guess that's true. Just checking to see if anyone had an experience with similar cases. Thanks for the help.
