Essentially, I am looking for a laptop and am tempted by two options. I have difficulty deciding between the two because I want a laptop that will last me a long time and is not only good for work but also for a little gaming (Games like Warframe, maybe BF4?). However, I may end up getting a PS4 for mobility reasons e.g. University etc....

The first is http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/ultraNoteII-14/. Its specs are i5-4200m processor, 4GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis RAM, 120GB SSD (Kingston Hyper-X as well), no OS or Antivirus (not required).

The next laptop is http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/cosmosII-17/. Its specs are i7-4700mq processor, 8GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis Ram, 120GB SSD (Kingston Hyper-X As well), no OS or Antivirus as well.

There is a notable price difference with the Ultranote II being almost £250 cheaper with my setup. Any help would be appreciated and a better build for around £750 would be superb if someone has a better option (I'm not too great with computers myself)

Many Thanks :)

Regarding general tasks both will do fine. But when multi-tasking i7 will win as it as 4 cores and more importantly 8 threads, as compared to i5's 2 cores and 4 thread. i7's 4 cores give it a +1 for gaming. So as i said if you want great performance then Ultranote II or if beastly performance (using direct power+cooling pad) COSMOS II.

Between the two i5-4200m Ultranote II. Reason for that is laptop components aren't easily upgradeable. So if you go with the extra £250 i7 it will give you slightly better performance but not worth the bump in price. so after maybe 2-4 yrs when newer processors will release the i5-i7 difference will not be noticeable.

GT740M is way more faster about 70%. If your going to use this for work and primary gaming then COSMOS II, else if as you mentioned getting the PS4 and using notebook for work and little play just stick to integrated HD 4600 gaphics you'll get noticeably better battery life :)

Cheers :D , final question? Will the Ultranote II be fast with multi-tasking etc. i.e. boot-up times, and general internet surfing, working on Microsoft office etc.? Or is it difficult to tell? I though that beefing up the RAM and processor and getting an SSD would do this but I'm not sure? Thanks again, you've been super useful haha
