I have a budget of 500GBP to buy a laptop for christmas, this computer will primarily be used for gaming so i will most likely need a dedicated graphics card (correct me if im wrong). Memory will need to be 4gb+ cause i play minecraft which is memory intensive. When i am looking on internet i really dont know what im looking for otherwise, can someone please direct me.

If it's only for minecraft, my son plays that a lot with several mods installed at good settings on a Lenovo T420 which does not have the best video card for overall gaming.

Don't know what the prices would be for you, in the US, this Lenovo IdeaPad Y410p is $750 which is about 500GBP.
This is also a good buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231455 for $660
There are some models of the Z510 on sale now, just make sure it comes with the dual graphics http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/z-series/z710/#techspecs

I would ideally like to be able tp play games on it like guild wars 2 on atleast medium settings, and possibly future proof for few years to come.

You're better off with the ASUS I linked at newegg of the Z510, just make sure from Lenovo that it comes with the dual graphics if you're looking for a good low end gaming laptop. Those will play things pretty well at medium settings for many games, and high on things like WOW and Guild Wars 2 also.
