Hi all, I'm having a kind of annoying problem with my 3 years old samsung r520 laptop. The thing is recently when I power my laptop on it sometimes doesn't show anything on internal screen but works fine on an external monitor and in order to get the laptop screen to work again I had to remove the lcd cable and plug it again into the screen and after several attempts it worked and once it worked if I remove the lcd cable and plug it again the screen will work on the first attempt no matter how many times I repeat this, so I'm convinced the lcd cable is not what causing the problem. I've also tried another screen I have and exactly the same thing happened. This week the same problem happened twice when I restarted my laptop which is really weird and there's no way I can get the screen to work again unless I repeat the process I mentioned above which is really irritating. I've also tried every possible solution I found here or on youtube but none could solve the problem. What I have tried so far is discharging static electricity, cleaning the ram, updating the bios, ..etc.

I forgot to mention whenever this problem happens and when working on an external display the wireless keeps disconnecting I'm not sure how this can be related but I thought it's worth mentioning.

So, please if anyone could help me how to solve or prevent this problem from happening again i'd be grateful. Thanks

If the external monitor is good, means the video card is good. Which leaves the screen that you already checked, or the motherboard connections or the inverter. Did you try a new inverter? If not, they are cheap to get and swap. If that does not help, you probably need to replace the motherboard, or at least double/triple check the cable and connections to make sure things are not bent, cut, stiped, worn, etc...

Thank you hang-the-9 for your reply. I've already tried another screen as I mentioned above and the same thing happened so I don't think it's the inverter what causes the problem. I believe it's a problem with the power connection on the motherboard, as the wireless adapter keeps disconnecting when this problem occurs (I assume it's not getting the power it needs from the motherboard). But how this problem can be solved? (assuming it's a problem with the power connection on the motherboard)

Could be the RAM or back light. It's best to take it in to get looked at if under warranty, but you may be able to work on it yourself, if you do want to work on it yourself try the following. Turn off your device and rearrange the RAM, (if you have a warranty ask the manufacturer if this would void the warranty, normally it won't if you don't break anything) if you only have 1 stick of RAM then take it out and put it in the other slot, otherwise start the device back up. If it did not work switch the ram around again and turn it on again. If that doesn't work then it could be the back light. To test this you need to take a light and shine it on your screen while the device is on, look very closely to see if you can see anything on the screen, if you don't see anything it is probably not the back light. It can be hard to see anything, so make absolutely sure. If you do see something then there is a special part that you'll need to have repaired or repair yourself, YouTube if you're friend if this is the case, just search for "laptop black screen".
