So I hooked up my ps3 via component to my roxio HD PRO. I want the output to be HDMI so i hook up my HDMI TO DVI (I play on a monitor) and it doesn't work. Is it because theres not enough power to make it work? When i use this method but instead of the monitor i use my tv it works but i dont want to use my tv. Should I buy a HDMI Spliter that requires me to connect it to a power plug?

Unless the cable is really long this isn't a power issue. The reason it doesn't work may be that the input on the monitor is not HDCP compliant. That is HD copy protection which all TVs are compliant with but not all monitors.
You can't split HDMI with a cable you would have to use a distribution amp. If the cable is long then you might need something like this:
